A lot of bad things can happen in your life, and being stranded on the side of the road is definitely one of them.

Electric vehicles have made huge advancements over the last five years or so, but owners are still worried about not finding a high-speed charger to power up their vehicle's battery when it's running low on juice.

Model S owners might not have to worry about that for too much longer, according to a tweet sent out by Tesla CEO Elon Musk that said the company is "about to end range anxiety."

Musk revealed this week that a big press conference will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. (EST) to discuss a major upgrade that will be introduced through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Tesla owners usually have to plan long-distance trips wisely since it takes about an hour for even the fastest at-home charger to recharge 58 miles of range for a Model S.

The California-based company has tried a number of different options to ease "range anxiety," like expanding its network of Superchargers, which are capable of delivering up to 170 miles or range in 30 minutes.

In February, Supercharger network reached a major milestone of 2,000 Superchargers located at 400 Supercharger stations around the world. There are 9,165 electric charging stations with 23,091 charging outlets in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department Energy.

Tesla recently unveiled an upgrade package for its Roadster that extends range to 400 miles, though this required major hardware alterations.

Musk mentioned in his tweet that the new update will extend to the entire Model S range, including single-motor options. We aren't sure how they plan on accomplishing that, but we'll find out more tomorrow bright and early.
