If you're a Camaro nut you'll want to make your way to Belle Isle in Detroit this May, as General Motors has confirmed that the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro will be officially unveiled during a special premiere event on May 16.

A day-long celebration will be held on the 982-acre island park that is home to the Chevrolet Detroit Bell Isle Grand Prix. The 2015 running will be held May 29-31, according to the automaker.

The historic celebration will also include a "Camaro Museum" display of the "most significant vehicles from the brand's history," meet-and-greets with Camaro designers and engineers and Camaro-only parking for owners.

"This will be an event Camaro fans will not want to miss," said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager in a company statement. "This is only the sixth time we have introduced an all-new Camaro. We wanted to share the moment with the customers and fans who have helped make Camaro both America's favorite performance car for the past five years, and a cultural icon since 1967."

The event is free to the public, but space will be limited and registration is required, according to GM.

Don't expect to be the only one attending the event however. Chevrolet expects close to 1,000 loyal Camaro owners and fans to attend the unveiling so you'll want to register soon.

Chevy is keeping quiet when it comes to the sixth-generation Camaro specs. So far we don't know what kind of engine it will feature, how much it will cost or when customers can expect the ride to be released.
