James Bond has met his match: potholes.

Daniel Craig was injured on the streets of Rome late last week while filming a car chase scene for "Spectre," the latest installment in the James Bond franchise.

An accident took place while Craig was riding in an Aston Martin DB10 custom built specifically for the film, according to Italy's La Repubblica. The vehicle hit one of Rome's notorious potholes, causing the British actor to hit his head on the vehicle's interior.

"Are the potholes of Rome the real enemy of James Bond? It would seem so," said ADOC, a national consumer protection organization, in a statement, according to NPR.

Craig, 46, was checked out by an on-set doctor and flew to London the next day, as previously scheduled, according to the Telegraph.

The Aston Martin was actually being driven by a stuntman sitting in a metal cage fixed to the roof of the car when the incident took place.

"The streets of Rome pose a daily danger to pedestrians, cyclists, and car and motorcycle drivers who risk serious injuries," said ADOC President Lamberto Santini to NPR. "If James Bond can be sidelined, imagine the fate of our average resident."

Craig also suffered a knee injury during filming a week earlier in Austria. He was not seriously hurt during either incident, according to Mirror.

Production for the next Bond film, started back in December. In addition to Rome, filming has taken place in Pinewood Studios, London, Mexico City, Austrian alps and Tangier.

"Spectre" is Craig's fourth film as the classic British spy, and the 24th Bond film overall.

The film, directed by Sam Mendes, also stars Ralph Fiennes, two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista and 50-year-old Monica Belluci, the oldest Bond girl ever.

The film is scheduled to reach theaters on November 6.
