BMW 2012 M5 in One Lap of America

The all new BMW M5 will tour 300 mile U.S. road trip for one week which involves the skeevy diners, restless rest regions and truck-cease toilets. And it will eat up its tires on nine of the country’s best tracks. If you think that it might sound just like the “Tire Rack A Single Lap of America”, you’d be correct.

The Munich based company is sending a group of driver from its BMW Efficiency Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to participate in the latest design of ‘Showroom Stock’ class. It is officially offering autos for the event. The full week and prolonged race begins from May 4 in South Bend, Indiana. The M5 will be fitted with just one particular set of tires to check its gumption in a variety of motorsports disciplines and thousands of highway miles.

The chosen best drivers will get a great sedan which will be fitted with the most powerful production engine ever produced in BMW. Under the hood of the new BMW M5, a newly developed, high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo (consisting of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology, a cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Injection fuel direct injection and Valvetronic fully variable valve control), maximum output of 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 500 lb-ft between1,500 and 5,750 rpm has been put in place.

The instant power delivery and sustained thrust that M cars have built their reputation results in an acceleration of 0– 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and 0–124 mph (0-200 km/h) in just 13.0 seconds. Whereas the engines output has substantially been increased by around 10% and maximum torque is up by more than 30%, the new BMW M5 consumes roughly 30% less fuel which is substantially higher range than its predecessor.

The BMW Performance Center will provide the One Lap of America technical staff with official vehicles for 2012.
