Honda Recalls 2006 CR-V

Honda has issued a recall for 2006 Honda CR-V compact SUVs over reported complaints that the breaking of passenger’s side front lower control arm could limit the vehicle control.

Technical errors such as the faulty weld could break, resulting in the right side lower control arm to not perform its job. This recall affects just 1,316 CR-V SUVs from the 2006 year model. This most likely relates to a specific period of time when the affected models were built for such a small group of vehicles to be affected by the new CR-V recall.

Unfamiliar to those working with the front suspension components of the 2006 Honda CR-V, the lower control arm is a portion of the suspension that holds the mounting surface for the wheel and the front strut. When the weld on the passenger’s side control arm breaks, a variety of problems could happen, including the tire moving freely of the steering rack.

Although no injuries or accidents have been reported yet, the technical snag might lead to increased chance of an accident in the event of a failure. Losing the ability to steer the vehicle at high speed could definitely pose a serious threat before anyone could get hurt.

Honda CR-V recall is not yet appearing on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) web portal, leaving speculations that still official information is not known beyond what was included in Honda’s announcement.
