Have trouble keeping your eyes on the road because you're also trying to watch the back seat? The 2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL could offer a solution.

The full-size sport-utility vehicle models have a special "conversation mirror" that was specifically developed for families with young children, according to General Motors.    

Standard in all models, the secondary rear-view mirror is integrated into a console overhead and gives the driver a view of the back seat, so a parent doesn't have to look into the rear-view mirror to see what the kids are up to.

The GMC development team implemented the extra mirror into a sunglasses holder in the driver's overhead console; when the glasses holder is closed, a mirror clicks into place to give a wide shot of the SUV's interior.

"As a mom, when it came time to design the next-generation Yukon and Yukon XL, I wanted to give our customers a better way of keeping tabs on their kids without forcing them to turn around and take their eyes off the road," Kay Jarboe, product manager for the 2015 Yukon and Yukon XL, said in a statement.

Around 30 percent of the Yukon lineup's buyers are parents with younger children, according to the automaker. Design team members aimed to meet the needs of this demographic while not compromising space in the console.

"We wanted a mirror contour that provided a wide, door-to-door field of vision, allowing drivers to quickly monitor both back seats in a single glance," Jennifer Farah, an interior trim design engineer, said in a statement.

"At the same time, we didn't want the mirror to grow too large and eliminate room for a pair of glasses.  As a mom, I can truly see the value in keeping a watch over my kids without turning my head away from the road."
