The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 has sold out, with the automaker planning to build the last of the 100 or so off-roaders this month.
GTSpirit reported in an exclusive last week that the more than 100 examples of the G63 AMG 6x6 had gone like hotcakes. When the model was first unveiled, Mercedes had built just two examples of the off-roader and planned to manufacture more based on demand, according to Motor Authority.
The last of the G63 AMG 6x6 models, which are built at the G-Class factory in Graz, Austria, is expected to be delivered in May, according to GTSpirit.
While Mercedes could have manufactured more of the G63 to keep pace with demand, the automaker opted to stop selling the model to ensure its exclusivity.
Equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 delivering 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque, the six-wheeled G63 weighs about 9,000 pounds and makes its way off-road on 37-inch tires, Motor Authority reported. It is a whopping 43.5 inches longer than a standard car model.
Car enthusiasts who didn't move quickly enough to score a G63 can hope for a production version of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² Concept, which is expected to debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
The concept, which GTSpirit predicts will make it to production, is equipped with a new V-8 engine producing 422 horsepower.
The "4×4²" title signifies on-roading and off-roading since Mercedes-Benz wants the car to excel in both spaces, the automaker told GTSpirit.
