That's it. Bugatti will show off the last Bugatti Veyron, which debuted in 2005 as the Veyron 16.4, during next month's Geneva Motor Show.
Bugatti originally planned to only sell 450 Veyrons, and in December the company said it was down to its last eight vehicles. Now the final one is gone, but it will it will be on display during next month;s Geneva show, Bentley and Bugatti chief Wolfgang Durheimer announced in a company statement.
The 450 units of the Veyron was comprised of 300 coupes and 150 open-top models, according to Germany's Auto Motor and Sport.
The final Veyron will be shown alongside the very first Veyron ever built.
"In the Veyron, Bugatti has created an automobile icon and established itself as the world's most exclusive supercar brand," said Wolfgang Durheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., in a company statement "So far no other carmaker has managed to successfully market a product that stands for unique top-class technical performance and pure luxury in a comparable price/volume range. An unprecedented chapter in automobile history has reached its climax."
The Veyron has left its mark on the auto industry as a status symbol, a record-breaker and a supercar icon. It will now be followed up by the "Chiron," which will have huge shoes to fill once it debuts.
Urheimer said Bugatti's are like works of art, and like good art, it takes time to get them just right. In other words we have no idea when you should expect the Chiron, or how much it will go for yet. He did say that the new Bugatti must "do everything better than its predecessor" so it could take a couple of years for them to achieve that.
The last Bugatti Veyron will probably be a Grand Sport Vitesse, capable of 1,183 horsepower from its quad-turbocharged W16 engine and a top speed of 254 mph.
Whoever winds up with the final Veyron know this: you are a very lucky person.
