Fuji Heavy Industries, parent company of Subaru, held a traditional unveiling ceremony of its Gunma Main Plant which will now start producing globally well-known Scion FR-S, also known as Toyota 86 or Toyota GT86 at different parts on the globe, and Subaru BRZ cars.

The duo cars will be produced in the plant in the next two months and have been branded as the best ones in the global standards. Coupes of both the cars feature rear-wheel-drive design with Subaru’s deliberately built 2.0-liter boxer engine pushing 200-hp and 151 lb-ft of torque in the rear axle. Injection technology has been contributed by Toyota to the project.

The output performance of the Subaru model is simple and has the capability of very low center of gravity and a 2,762-pound (1,255 kg) US-spec weight. Toyota lists the curb weight of the GT 86 as 1,180 kg (2,596 lbs) on its official UK website.

“We have been constantly innovating both the models. TMC and FHI are in hopes to come with new creative ways in the days to come to satisfy our customers all over the world and cherish them forever,” said Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, Fuji Heavy Industries President, after the inauguration of the plant. Pricing of both the models is yet to be announced.
