Chevrolet officially presented New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler with a brand new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado pickup this week after the automaker consulted with Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady on Monday.

Butler's Super Bowl-winning interception on a Russell Wilson pass heading for Ricardo Lockette at the 1-yard line with just 20 seconds remaining essentially ended the game against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 1.

"Malcolm Butler's interception was truly memorable and deserving of this recognition," said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing, in a company statement. "We commend Tom Brady for being such a class act,"  

The winner of the Pete Roselle Trophy usually wins a brand new car in recognition of being the Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl. But Brady, who has won three Super Bowl MVP awards, started campaigning for Butler to receive the Chevy instead a few days after the Super Bowl on Boston sports radio station WEEI.

"I've seen several game-changing moments in big games, and Malcom's interception last Sunday ranks up there as one of the biggest," said Brady, according to a GM release. "I appreciate Chevrolet wanting to honor the Super Bowl's top performer, and I'm glad they have agreed to award the Colorado to Malcolm." 

The undrafted rookie out of West Alabama currently makes the veteran's minimum salary, though Butler probably earned himself free drinks for life after making one of the biggest interceptions in Super Bowl history.

Butler received the shiny red truck at Clay Chevrolet in Norwood, a Boston-area dealership, on Tuesday afternoon.

The new Chevy Colorado, which was named 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year, was designed to be the most technologically advanced and most versatile midsize truck available. It comes with 4G LTE built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and class-leading horsepower and fuel economy.

"I am ecstatic that Chevrolet has chosen to reward me with a Colorado. It is just another unreal event in what has been an incredible week," said Butler.

Butler and his Patriot's teammate Julian Edelman, who also had a good Super Bowl performance, presented an award during the Grammy's on Sunday and were honored at Disneyland during a celebratory parade down Main Street, U.S.A. on Feb. 3.
