Two high-speed watercraft models have been recalled for handlebar failure that can affect the vehicle's steering and braking.

The safety campaign includes 320 Quadski and Quadski XL vehicles that were sold in the United States from January 2012 to October 2014; the models sell for $42,000 and $47,000, respectively, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that in the affected models, "the handlebar can fail while the vehicle is in operation, causing the operator to lose control of the steering and braking system of the vehicle, posing a risk of injury."

No accidents or injuries have been reported by consumers in connection with the recall. The company discovered the issue while testing Quadskis at a facility in Florida, reporting three handlebar breaks, one of which resulted in injury to the test operator's neck.

The Quadski, which seats one, and the Quadski XL, which is a two-seater, convert from being all-terrain vehicles to watercraft. They are built by Gibbs Sports Amphibians, a watercraft maker based in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Potentially affected owners should check their vehicle's hull identification number, which is on a plate on the right rear corner of the Quadski. HINs that run from US-GSAJ0607J213 though US-GSAJ1048C414 on the Quadski and US-GSAJ5001J213 though US-GSAM5203H415 on Quadski XL are included in the recall, the Free Press reported.

Neiman Marcus made the Quadski famous when the watercraft was selected for the retailer's Fantasy Gifts List in the annual Christmas catalogue. After adding a specialty print, Neiman Marcus offered a designer version of the Quadski that retailed for $50,000. The limited-edition models were not included in the recall, a Neiman Marcus spokeswoman told the Free Press.
