Ford Teases New Police Interceptor Ahead of Chicago Show

Ford has released a teaser image of the new Police Interceptor that is expected to debut at next week's 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

The photo doesn't give a lot away but does show that the new Interceptor is based on the refreshed Explorer that Ford showed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, Car and Driver reported.

The new Ford Explorer has three engine options: a 3.5-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque; the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque; and the twin-turbo 3.5-liter, 365-horsepower EcoBoost V-6 with torque of 350 pound-feet.

As Car and Driver points out, the updated Interceptor has three-sided fog lights in the lower fascia that mimic the shape of the new 2015 Ford F-150 Raptor's headlights.

More information about the new Interceptor should be forthcoming on Feb. 12 after the police vehicle is unveiled in Chicago.
