More Photos Surface of the 2016 Nissan Maxima

We had our first glimpse of Nissan's next large family sedan in a surprise moment during the Super Bowl last weekend, and now we can show you the 2016 Maxima in earnest.

Nissan has released photos, including the one above, of the next-generation sedan. It shares the blocky, flowing theme of the 2015 Murano, and translates the shapes to fit a sedan. Aside from these photos—which presumably show the "Platinum" model—we still have few details about the Maxima. It's likely that the Maxima will share some engine and transmission componentry with the Murano, but a smaller, optional engine isn't out of consideration.

The current-generation Maxima is a front-wheel-drive sedan with a 290-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 and a continuously variable automatic transmission. No timeframe has been announced for production yet for the 2016 model.
