Toyota is recalling around 52,000 Avalon sedans from 2011-'12 that may have faulty audio systems with increased fire risk.

If cargo bumps an audio system subwoofer wire inside the trunk, the wire could shift and contact the subwoofer's metal frame, resulting a short circuit that could cause overheating and increase the risk of fire, Toyota said in a statement.

No accidents, injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the issue, according to the automaker.

Affected owners should receive a notification by mail. Toyota dealers will repair the audio system when a fix is available; meantime, dealers have been told to detach the rear subwoofer as a precautionary measure.

In a separate announcement, Toyota earlier this month issued a recall for around 5,000 Prius V hybrids from the 2014-'15 model year for seat air bag systems that may have not been calibrated properly.

The front passenger seat in the Prius V deploys air bags based on the weight of the seat occupant; in some vehicles, the air bag may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury.

Toyota is not aware of any injuries or fatalities related to the hybrid recall, which will involve dealers recalibrating the passenger seat air bag systems.
