Volkswagen Group is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles worldwide that may have fuel leakage problems, a safety campaign that affects the Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche brands.

The Audi recall includes the 2012 Audi A6 and Volkswagen Touareg hybrid; the Audi A7 from model years 2012 and 2013; and the Audi Q7, S4 and S5 from 2011-'12, all of which are equipped with 3-liter V-6 engines.

In a separate announcement, Porsche is recalling Cayenne and Panamera S hybrids from the 2011 and 2012 model years for a similar problem related to leaking fuel.

Vibration while driving can result in leaks in rare cases, according to Volkswagen. The issue first surfaced in March 2013 following customer complaints of a fuel smell.

The automaker called it a production issue, saying that during "dynamic driving, it is possible that, in rare cases, a fuel leak may occur in the vehicle's fuel injection system."

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents show that around 27,000 VW, Audi and Porsche vehicles in the United States are affected by the recall, the Associated Press reported. No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the issue.

The recall, which starts in March, will involve dealers replacing the fuel injector rails and seals on affected models.
