The Mercedes-Maybach S600 sedan that is giving the luxury Maybach brand new life has been priced at $190,275 with shipping.

Set to hit dealerships in April, the new flagship model compares with the even more expensive high-performance S65 AMG, which starts at $222,950.

The S600's roomy interior benefits from the frame's extra 8 inches compared with the standard S-Class sedan the new S600 is based on, while the inside finish features hand-stitched Nappa leather and comes in seven design packages.

The new sedan 6-liter runs on a twin-turbocharged V-12 engine that can generate 530 horsepower and has 20-inch wheels in the standard trim.

Formerly a struggling one-model brand, Maybach has been brought back to life after Mercedes-Benz closed its production in 2012 due to disappointing sales. Under its new name and direction, Mercedes-Maybach will become a full lineup of vehicles as opposed to offering just one model. The brand is aiming to become even more luxurious to entice big-spending customers.

Mercedes calls the new lineup a "sub-brand" that gives prestige and exclusivity to its customers. The S600 is the world's quietest production sedan for passengers in the rear, according to the automaker.

"The history of prestige vehicles made by Daimler extends back to the earliest days of the motor car," Ola Källenius, the Mercedes-Benz board member who oversees sales, noted in a statement. "We have now commenced a new chapter with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class."

Mercedes-Maybach will be looking to compete with models such as the Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls-Royce Ghost when the S600 arrives by the second quarter of 2015.
