The 2016 Jaguar XE is about to arrive in the United States, and not a moment too soon for the brand that's making a push to expand its market share.
The XE is Jaguar's play at capturing a slice of the BMW 3-series / Mercedes C-class market, and an attractive one at that. Something like a scaled down XF with cues from the F-type, the stylish XE already succeeds where the dowdy X-type did not.
We've learned in Detroit that the XE will be offered with several different engine options, including a 340-hp supercharged V-6 from the F-type sports car and a 2.0-liter diesel found in the XF. Those options, and manual and automatic transmissions on offer, will make the XE lineup one of the roundest in the business.
When it goes on sale, the XE will be one of few sport-luxury sedans to be offered with a manual transmission of any kind.
The XE family is due on sale in 2016 in the United States, and we're itching for a proper first look.
