Lexus has announced that its new GS F performance sedan will be unveiled next Tuesday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The latest addition to the Lexus F series joins the RC F coupe in the lineup.
The GS F "combines a refined four-door package with the speed and agility of a premium sports car," according to Lexus. Its frame is built with structural reinforcements and suspension intended to ensure smooth handling as well as a quality ride.
The sedan can handle anything from the open highway to mountain roads to the racetrack, the automaker said. While it's built on the GS 350 F Sport platform, the new GS F features enhancements that make it distinct.
Running on a 5-liter V-8 engine matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the GS F produces 467 horsepower and peak torque of 389 pound-feet.
In contrast, the GS 350 is equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that generates 306 horsepower.
The GS F will compete in its segment with the Mercedes-Benz E Class, the BMW 5 Series and the Infiniti Q70.
