Volkswagen Recalls 38,000 Vehicles for Fire Risk

In one more recall for the old year, Volkswagen has recalled around 38,000 vehicles due to fire risk.

The safety campaign affects Volkswagen Beetle, Jetta and Passat cars from the 2014 and 2015 model years as well as 2015 models of the Golf and GTI, according to the Associated Press.

The automaker is not aware of any accidents or injuries in connection with the issue, which involves a fuel leak in the engine that can result in a fire.

The issue stems from a faulty sealing cap that can fail and allow fuel to leak, USA TODAY reported.

Federal regulators warn that drivers may smell gas inside their vehicle.

Volkswagen is issuing notices to owners to tell them that they may smell gas inside the car or the electronic power control warning light could go out.

The automaker has not yet set a timeline for the recall, which will be covered by Volkswagen.
