A car crashed into a popular fashion store in New York Wednesday night, injuring at least seven people, authorities confirmed to Reuters.

The a late-model silver Ford Mustang convertible ran into Forever 21 in Manhattan's Herald Square around 10 p.m. along West 34th Street near 6th Avenue.

The driver was heading West on 34th Street between Seventh Avenue and Broadway when she rear-ended a Subaru SUV, police confirmed to the New York Post. She then backed up and made a U-turn, heading east on the street.

She started careening along, weaving in and out of traffic, crossing the yellow line more than once into oncoming lanes. A Toyota hit her at Sixth Avenue, and then hit a cab, before the Mustang mounted the sidewalk and hit victims before screeching to a stop in front of Forever 21.

Seven people were taken to a nearby hospital, one with minor injuries and six in "serious condition," the New York Fire Department confirmed.

CBS New York broadcast footage of the Mustang beside a shattered window of the apparel retail store.

"She must have freaked out," a witness, Matty Thomas, said to CBS New York when describing the driver of the vehicle.

"She backed up, took off, went around on the other side of the street, went through the intersection, skidded out, fishtailed, then fishtailed again the other way and smacked into all the cars waiting at the light on that side of the street," he added.

Police were reached by telephone, though they've declined to provide further details of the incident or to say if the driver would face charges.

"The woman that was pinned was saved by the glass window. She flew through it. The glass saved her life." Angel Aguilar, who walked into the store just 10 seconds before the crash, confirmed to Gothamist.com. "One man was laying on the far side and he couldn't move."

The driver was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Post.
