Chevrolet is reportedly looking to launch a special Impala Midnight Edition with intimidating blacked-out styling in four or five months.
Based on the Impala Blackout concept seen at the 2014 SEMA Show, the limited-edition Chevy Impala will have touches including a blacked-out grille and new styling on the steering wheel.
"We are trying to get it (built) for this model year," Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's marketing director for cars and crossovers, recently told Edmunds.
As for timing, the car could arrive in dealerships "maybe late this spring. We are calling it 'Midnight Edition,'" he said.
Featuring a black bow tie in the center of the grille, the limited-edition full-size sedan "looks gorgeous," Majoros told Edmunds. "Blacked-out is a huge trend," he said. "You see so many smoked gray wheels, black wheels."
The concept car, which debuted at the SEMA event in October in Las Vegas, runs on a 3.6-liter V-6 engine generating 305 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque.
The interior is finished in all black with leather trim and features custom trim plates and stainless steel sills with the Impala logo, according to General Motors.
The automaker describes the concept's look as "aggressive, acclaimed styling with blacked-out cues that lend it a sinister attitude."
