The Red Bull team is getting ready for the "world's toughest race"--the Dakar Rally, which will run Jan. 4-15, 2015, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Preparation for the 2015 event, which will include cars, trucks, bikes and quads, involves training with the "Gardians of the Dakar," according to a new short film featuring the Red Bull team.
Evoking an atmosphere to the cowboys of the Wild West, Red Bull's Desert Wings bike riders take Honda and KTM motorbikes to be their trusty steeds and herd a "bull," which is actually Peugeot's 2008 DKR.
The Dakar Rally is unique among motorsports competitions, said former Dakar winner Nasser Al-Attiyah.
"It's not an obvious race: everything is quite complex so you need to think carefully and make the most of all the experience that you have," he said in a recent interview with RedBull.com. "But to succeed you will need a strong car, a calm mind and plenty of energy."
Al-Attiyah, who will be entering his 11th Dakar, will be driving the MINI ALL4 Racing car. Run by the Qatar Rally Team, the MINI ALL4 holds a 3-liter turbocharged diesel engine and is equipped with four-wheel drive to better navigate the desert dunes and mountains in this year's South American terrain.
