BMW is recalling 223 i8 cars from the 2014 model year for a part that may not have been properly welded.

Affecting select vehicles in North America, the recall started in November and involves cars built from May 16, 2014 to Sept. 16, 2014, according to BMW.

The i8 models could "have a defective bolt used to attach a ground cable between the tank and the vehicle chassis," the automaker said. The inadequate weld could allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of fire.
