2014 Los Angeles Auto Show: The 2016 Jaguar F-type Arrives with a Stickshift and AWD

As with any performance-driven vehicle, enthusiasts quickly cried out for a manual gearbox option for the F-type, and it seems Jaguar's top brass has decided to listen.

What is it?

The new F-type has received praise from all over the automotive industry since its launch, but this latest news announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show just makes the sexy coupe and convertible that much more appealing.

What's new or changed?

Buyers of the 2016 F-type coupe and convertible will be able to choose a manual gearbox, though at this time it will only be offered on rear-wheel drive V6 vehicles for the time being. For those looking to make the F-type just a touch more practical, Jaguar's Intelligent all-wheel drive will be an option as well for 2016. For those living in the snow belt, the sleek Jag now falls into that same realm of potential daily driver in the same vein as the Porsche 911 C4 and C4S.

As a final touch of lunacy, Jaguar has also noted that the 550-horsepower F-type R will soon be available in both coupe and convertible forms, and to help dial back its tail-happy nature, both models will also be receiving all-wheel drive as standard equipment, cutting its 0-60 time down to 3.9 seconds-weather permitting, of course.

Can I buy it?

The F-type manual and AWD variants are scheduled to go on sale as 2016 models.
