Google is offering early access to its fast fiber-optics network for small businesses in select areas in Kansas City.

The internet search giant provided its Fiber service at a rate of more than $100 a month in the Kansas City metropolitan area currently.

"I can confirm that the price is $100/month," a Google spokesperson said to VentureBeat. "We're working on plans to bring Google Fiber to small businesses in more cities, although we don't have specific details to share just yet, we hope to have an update on additional cities soon. For now, we're focused on launching this Early Access program in Kansas City."

Google currently offers gigabit internet to households for $70 per month, making the small business price a very reasonable amount, according to the website.

Small businesses are able to sign up for a Google Fiber gigabit Internet connection only if they are located in the two locations specified by Google. The company does mention that it is planning on expanding in Kansas City, but has yet to share exactly when or where this will take place.

Fiber delivers internet speeds at 1 gigabit per second, or as much as 100 times faster than the normal U.S. network.

Google, which has a fiber network located in Provo, Utah and is working on building one in Austin, Texas, said it doesn't currently have plans to provide Fiber to small businesses in other locations, according to Reuters.

The company will be competing for business against rivals like IBM, Amazon and Microsoft.

The new service was first seen by Kansas City Business Journal on November 7.

Kansas City was the testing ground for Google Fiber "fiberhoods" back in 2011, where Google picked a number of different neighborhoods and installed 1Gbps internet into homes, according to Chinatopix.com.
